Chromatic Drift

You can't touch the colors – only their laws.

A color puzzle for iPhone and iPad. Balls grow, spread and clash across the field. You never move a single one: you set the rules for what happens when two colors meet, and try to turn the whole field one color.

Try it: break the loop

Red beats Green, Green beats Blue, and Blue beats Red, so the colors chase each other forever. Change the rules below until one color fills the field. One change is enough.

Red + Green
Green + Blue
Blue + Red

How it works

You set the laws.
The colors do the rest.

  1. Balls grow and spread

Every ball grows, charges up and reaches into a neighboring cell. An empty cell gets a new ball of the same color.

  2. Every meeting has a rule

When two colors meet, their rule decides: one wins and takes the cell, they stop and form a wall, they pop and both vanish, or it's a coin toss.

  3. One color wins the field

Change the rules whenever you like, even before a level begins. Turn every ball one color to win. Fewer changes and a quicker time earn more stars.

  • WinsOne color takes the other's cell.
  • StopNothing happens. The two colors build a wall.
  • PopBoth balls vanish and leave room.
  • 50/50A coin toss decides who wins.
  • MixLater on, two colors make a third.

The campaign

A stranger.
A field of living colors.
The way home.

The stranger wakes in warm grass with no memory of lying down. Every level opens and closes with one line of their story, from the first humming field to the door that leads home. Each chapter brings something new to master.

  • The stranger lies in a misty meadow scattered with glowing red and blue balls
AwakeningThe stranger wakes in warm grass that hums in two colors, with no memory of lying down.
  • A sunset field packed with red balls under strings of lights
Crowded FieldsThe next field is packed shoulder to shoulder, and Red keeps bumping into itself with a pop.
  • A maze of stone walls with colored balls glowing along its paths
Stone GardenThe path turns into a maze of stone, and the bell echoes from every direction at once.
  • A purple whirlwind crosses a night field of colored balls while the stranger watches
Storm SeasonThe sky over the road turns the color of a bruise, and the first whirlwind skips across the field.
  • A path of glowing balls leads up to a bright open door
The Way HomeThe ground rises toward the door, and everything the stranger has learned seems to be waiting along the way.
