1. Who we are
Chromatic Drift is published by Maksim Puzyrkov, trading as MathCats (“we”, “us”), who is responsible for the processing described in this policy. The postal address is in the Impressum. If you have any questions about this policy, email us at MathCats@proton.me.
2. Information we collect
We, the developer, do not collect personal information through the app. There is no account, login or registration of our own, and the app does not ask for names, email addresses, photos, contacts or precise location. We do not run any servers that receive data from the app, and the app contains no analytics or crash-reporting tools.
Some information is handled by Google or Apple so that ads, purchases, leaderboards, achievements and iCloud sync work. This is described in sections 3 to 6.
3. Information stored on your device and in your iCloud
To remember progress between sessions, the app saves the following on the device:
- game progress: stars earned per level and skipped levels
- your score history (level scores and times)
- settings: ball style, haptics, music and sound effect volume, and sandbox settings
- whether “Remove ads” has been purchased (confirmed by the App Store)
- your ad consent choice, saved by Google’s consent tool
Syncing between your devices (iCloud)
If you are signed in to iCloud, the app also keeps a copy of your game progress (stars, skipped levels, score history and your largest Sandbox win) and your ball style in your own iCloud account, using Apple’s iCloud key-value storage. This lets you continue on your other iPhone, iPad or Mac signed in to the same Apple Account. The copy is stored and transferred by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy; it belongs to your iCloud account and we cannot see or access it. To stop syncing, turn off iCloud for Chromatic Drift in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud, or sign out of iCloud. If you are not signed in to iCloud, nothing is synced.
We cannot see any of this information. Apart from the iCloud sync described above, it stays on the device, though it may be included in the device’s own iCloud or computer backups if backups are turned on. Those backups are controlled by Apple, not by us. You can erase progress and scores at any time in Settings → Reset progress; this also resets the synced copy and your other devices. Achievements and the leaderboard score already sent to Game Center stay with your Game Center account (see section 5).
4. Advertising
Unless you buy “Remove ads”, the app shows banner ads served by Google AdMob.
Your consent
- If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows Google’s consent form before any ads are loaded. You can accept or decline personalised ads, and change your choice later in Settings → Your privacy choices.
- If you live in a US state with its own privacy law (such as California), you can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your information for targeted advertising in Settings → Your privacy choices.
- The app then shows Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. Only if you tap “Allow” can Google use your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA). If you tap “Ask App Not to Track”, the IDFA is not shared. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- If you do not agree, you still see ads, but they are not personalised: they are chosen based on the app and general context, not on your activity in other apps or websites.
What Google receives
For advertising, measuring how ads perform and preventing fraud, the Google Mobile Ads software in the app sends Google technical information such as:
- IP address, which can be used to estimate general location
- interactions, such as app launches, ad views and taps
- diagnostic information, such as app launch time, hang rate and energy usage
- device information, such as model and operating system version
- the advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allowed tracking
We only receive summary reports from Google, such as how many ads were shown. Nothing in them identifies you. Google handles this information under its own policies: the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
5. Game Center
The app uses Apple’s Game Center for an optional global leaderboard and achievements. If you are signed in to Game Center on your device, the app submits your total score (stars and total playing time) to the leaderboard, where other players can see it next to your Game Center nickname, and reports the achievements you earn (for example, finishing a chapter). Your achievements may be visible to your Game Center friends, depending on your Game Center settings. If you are not signed in, nothing is sent.
Game Center is run by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy. We do not receive your Apple ID or email address. You can sign out, or change who can see your Game Center profile, in iOS Settings → Game Center.
6. In-app purchases
The app offers an optional one-time purchase, “Remove ads”. Payment is handled entirely by the App Store, under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.
We never receive your name, email address or payment card details. The app only receives confirmation from Apple that the purchase is valid. It uses that confirmation to remove ads and to restore the purchase on a new device or after reinstalling (Settings → Restore purchases). Parents can control purchases with Apple’s Screen Time and Ask to Buy.
7. Children’s privacy
Chromatic Drift is a puzzle game for a general audience. It is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app limits ads to content Google rates as suitable for teens or younger audiences (rating “T” or lower). If you are a parent and think your child has sent us personal information, for example by email, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Legal bases (EEA and UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases for the processing described above:
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25 TDDDG), for personalised ads and for storing or reading information on your device for advertising. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Your privacy choices
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), to fund the app through non-personalised ads and to protect it against fraud
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), to provide a purchase you make
Google and Apple act as independent controllers of the information they process through their ad, store and Game Center services. Google may process information outside the EEA; it relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses for such transfers.
9. How long information is kept
We do not keep any data from the app. Information on the device stays there until you reset progress, delete the app or clear its data. The synced copy in your iCloud account stays until you reset progress (deleting the app does not remove it, so you can continue after reinstalling). Google and Apple keep the information they process according to their own policies. If you email us, we keep your message only as long as we need to reply.
10. Your choices and rights
Ads and tracking
Change your ad consent in Settings → Your privacy choices (shown where it applies), and tracking permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. To remove ads completely, buy “Remove ads”.
Delete game data
Use Settings → Reset progress in the app; this also resets the copy synced through iCloud and your other devices. It does not remove achievements or the leaderboard score already sent to Game Center, which Apple keeps with your Game Center account; you can ask Apple about that data at privacy.apple.com. Deleting the app removes the data on that device only. To get “Remove ads” back after reinstalling, tap Settings → Restore purchases.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the GDPR may give you the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to restrict or object to its use, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We don’t hold data from the app, so requests about ad, purchase or Game Center data are usually best sent to Google or Apple.
11. Security
We don’t run servers that store data from the app. Information sent to Google and Apple, including iCloud sync, travels over encrypted connections. Game data on the device is protected by the device’s own security, and the iCloud copy by Apple’s iCloud security.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects what information the app collects or shares, we will describe it in the app’s store listing or update notes before the change takes effect.
